Comments Off on Dave Lomdardo of Slayer brings ‘PHILM’ to Vegas August 27th

Metal legend Dave Lomdardo of Slayer will be in Las Vegas with his project PHILM at the Cheyenne Saloon, August 27th. Just having him associated with the project, so many people assume it will be blistering metal, but its way more on the hard rock/experimental side of things from what I gathered on youtube. Shit still kicks ass, they will not dissapoint!

Playing with them are Double Barrel Diplomacy, Hyperion’s Horizon, Mastiv and Warner Drive

Comments Off on Substance set to battle in the semi-finals August 18th

Las Vegas based metal/hard rock band SUBSTANCE will be competing for a slot in the Finals of Diablo’s Cantina Annual Rock The Roof battle. They made it to the semi-finals after winning by one point thanks to the loud, rabid fanbase screaming their asses off for the decibel reading. If Substance is to move on, they will need all the ‘Junkies’ to come out and support.

If you RSVP to their Facebook event, you will be added to the guest list gaining you FREE entry for the night (21+). Inside enjoy $1 Heineken drafts and Margarita specials too.

Comments Off on Fire In The Asylum – ‘Poetry for the Apocalypse’ Album Review

Hailing from Denver Colorado, this 3 piece Rock/metal/punk fusion kicks your nuts from the start. Its a barrage or great song writing, talented musicians and quality production. Most of their tracks like opener ‘Little Death’ and my fav ‘Brutality’ are strong enough to warrant some mainstream radio play, yet they dont feel watered down or trendy like say a Nickleback or Disturbed. Solid album, listen here or pick yours up online here – DOWNLOAD

Comments Off on Offset Season – Tonight EP Review

Offset Season’s ‘Tonight’ EP showcases the bands talent as writers and musicians with a variety of influences from country, pop, bluegrassy, ska, bluesish-ness. The songs are full of hooks sure to delight the singalong in you if you enjoy the usual pop/rock genres topping the charts. You even get some harmonica and horn action! It isnt my cup of tea, as I need a little more rock, a lil less pop in my day, but if you are a fan of the genre, the CD is a great addition to the Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20, Rascal Flatts fans out there. Although Tonight, the title track is very catch and makes you want to clap, and do a choreographed dance from a 90’s teen movie.

Comments Off on Altercation – Phase None EP Review

I was able to catch Altercation live at Cheyenne Saloon in Las Vegas and was quite eager to see if the brutal energy I felt from the stage performance would relay to the EP ‘Phase None’ I was able to snag after their set. Well in so many words It doesnt. The CD is solid, dont get me wrong, but it sure as shit isnt close to the real live thing. Altercation from Northern California is a mutt-breed of Metal. Elements of death, technical, hardcore echo soundly through each of the 4 track Ep, with Torture Tranquility being the standout track almost feeling like Peter Steele himself was writing the opening, then quickly getting back into a pit-rallying-double-pedal-blasting breakdowns of didnt-i-just-hear-that metal-core. Nothing new here, but its not for a lack of talent, more of a lack of creativity.
